Kuiper belt cont.

Blood Rider

Available now from Indy Planet! Click here for the link!

Kuiper Belt

Alright, so you've heard me talk about the new FLC comic Beyond The Kuiper Belt. Here's what I've been working on for the last three days. These are the concept sketches and I'll put the final up when it's complete...It's funny, I went through all the character design and the final layout that I settled with, you can't even see the alien's face.

Here's some art...

This is a piece that did not make it into the Bigger: Working Stiff series. It's not that I didn't like it, there just was no place for it. There's nothing saying that it won't show up in the current series.

The piece features Weez, Adrienne and Ms Teri. Kinda has a Charlie's Angels vibe.

Boston Comic Con comin' up!

This coming weekend I've got the Boston Comic Con. This is a great show and this year they've expanded it to two days! Here's the link!
Plainville had a great turnout and we sold a lot of different books and handed out a lot of flyers. A really good day. (Considering all the rain)
Today I'm gonna work on the Grant Bee BIGGER 10, and Beyond the Kuiper Belt's Black Roses (which is looking pretty damn good I must say!) We are going to launch Kuiper Belt at Space. It's a convention in Ohio. Kinda funny.

By the way, here's some AWESOME feedback from Hands On Art Day:
-The comic teacher (Matt) was the best thing here!
-I liked to draw cartoons. (Bridget)
-Matt – totally mesmerized his students while characters came to life on his whiteboard

Back from Hands on Art Day

What a great time we had with the Granby Artists. Holcomb Farm's Hands On Art Day was a hit! Just take a look at all the cars parked in the field next door. Carole Day was walking around taking a bunch of photos, there were tons of snacks and lots of interested kids. Awesome job everyone! Thanks to Carole for these pics! Off to Cliff's Plainville Show today! Maybe I'll see you there!

Boston Comics Roundtable

What a great experience! Steve and I were welcomed with open arms to this cozy meeting. I'd say over 15 people gathered together to speak on a future book that they were all collaborating on, a gallery that a decent percentage of them would be involved in, and to listen to Steve and I talk about Free Lunch's history, vision, and more. I was very impressed with their aggressive dedication to themselves, their vision and their talent. These guys meet every week! If you live in the Boston area, and you are a comic creator, you're missing out...you need to look these guys up. (Makes me kinda wish I lived up there) Check out their site at www.bostoncomicsroundtable.com

Off to Boston today...

for a comics round table. Sounds pretty cool. I'll fill you in on it tomorrow. We had our last Basketball game last night. Guess what? We lost again...but I'll say this, they've been much closer games towards the end. So that's good, right?

Granby Artist's Family Fun Day

Need to chase the last of those winter blues away? Then join the Granby Artists as they host a Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine at the Holcomb Farm Learning Center in West Granby, CT. Six members of the Granby Artists Association will demonstrate and share their skills in a variety of artistic media.

Jewelry artists Anne Dixon and Lori Garcia will make "found object" jewelry pieces. Artist Laura Eden will demonstrate watercolor techniques. Artist Sally Melrose will present a hand weaving demonstration, with a small loom set up for people to try. Comic artist Matt Ryan will do caricatures and show how he designs his comic book pages. Artist Bill Simpson will let budding artists experience applying oil paint to canvas.

This is a wonderful opportunity for families and individuals to come out and take part in the arts in Granby and learn a little about the process that is involved in the various media presented. The event is free and open to the public and will be held indoors. All ages are welcome to participate.

The Holcomb Farm Learning Center is at 113 Simsbury Road, West Granby, 860-844-8616.

From the Creativity Workout last Thursday night. Roughs drawn in pencil...finishes in ball point pen.

The weekend was good...The wife and I actually were able to go on a date and we saw The Watchmen. I enjoyed it. We taught 2 classes at the Free Lunch Studios office. I taught one that focused on the body/gesture and Steven did a private one on lettering on the computer. Pretty cool stuff.
