The Simsbury Art Walk!

Stroll along Simsbury town center and enjoy painters, musicians, dancers, crafters and performers at the first-ever ArtWalk Simsbury! on Saturday, May 19, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. This free event, located at several indoor and outdoor venues, will feature more than 60 exhibitors, including potters, quilters, jewelers, photographers, sculptors, glass artists and woodworkers.  These items will be for sale.  Activities will include book readings by local authors, along with several dance and musical performances scheduled throughout the day:  a women’s barbershop quartet, a big band with ballroom dancing, jazz and classical soloists, and a country rock band, to name just a few.  There will be lectures & demonstrations on, for example,  Simsbury’s notable architecture, how to preserve old paintings, flower arranging,  quilt-making, and pottery making. Children’s activities include sidewalk chalk art, “hair bling,” cartooning (THAT'S ME), face painting, an “instrument petting zoo”, performances, crafts and much more. The Simsbury Bike Sculpture, created by local metal artist Vicente Garcia, will be unveiled at 11:00 A.M. at the ABC House. All proceeds from ArtWalk Simsbury! will benefit the town’s ABC House, which provides housing and educational opportunities for teens from disadvantaged communities. I'll be at the Boy Scout Hall 'til 2 and then Peaberry's from 2:30 to 3! BE SURE TO VISIT ME BECAUSE I'LL BE GIVING AWAY A FREE DIGITAL COMIC!   Check out www.artwalksimsbury.com for additional information, including a schedule of all of the events.
